Live cam glossary: every term explained
New to live cams? This glossary explains every term you'll encounter on LiveBums and Chaturbate — from tokens and tip menus to private shows and Lovense.
Tokens
The virtual currency used on Chaturbate-powered platforms. Viewers buy token packages and spend them tipping performers, purchasing private shows, or unlocking specific actions on tip menus. 1 token ≈ $0.05–$0.10 USD depending on the package purchased.
Tip Menu
A list of specific actions a performer will do in exchange for a set number of tokens. Tip menus are usually posted in the room subject or pinned in chat. Example: "50 tokens = flash camera, 200 tokens = remove top, 500 tokens = naked full show." Tip menus give viewers a clear menu of what to expect for each tip amount.
Goal Show
A show structure where the broadcaster sets a token goal (e.g., 2000 tokens). Once the goal is reached by collective tipping from all viewers, the performer does the promised show. Goal shows are displayed as progress bars in the room. Most public rooms use this format.
Private Show
A one-on-one show between a viewer and a performer. During a private show, only the paying viewer sees the stream. Prices are set per minute by the performer, typically ranging from 6–90 tokens/minute. Other viewers cannot watch unless the performer enables "spy" mode.
Spy / Voyeur Show
A feature that allows other viewers to watch an ongoing private show at a reduced rate. The viewer in the private show does not know others are watching. Spy shows typically cost 6–30 tokens/minute — much less than the full private rate.
Lovense
A brand of interactive sex toys that connect to Chaturbate via Bluetooth. Viewer tips trigger physical vibrations in the toy — the more tokens, the stronger the vibration. Lovense devices are listed in a performer's room tags when they're connected. Common devices: Lush (wearable vibrator), Domi (wand), Nora (rabbit vibrator), Max (male).
Broadcaster / Performer
The person running a live cam room. Also called a "model" or "cam girl/guy." Broadcasters stream video of themselves and interact with viewers in real time via chat and tip-activated actions. All performer profiles on LiveBums link to their active broadcast room.
Fan Club
A monthly subscription offered by individual performers. Fans who join a performer's fan club get access to exclusive recorded content, special badges in chat, reduced private show rates, and sometimes direct messaging. Fan club prices are set by the performer.
Room Subject
The headline text displayed in a performer's room. Usually contains the current show description, tip menu summary, goal progress, and any special rules. The room subject is the first thing to read when entering a new room — it tells you exactly what's happening and what tips unlock.
C2C (Cam to Cam)
A feature in private shows where both the viewer and performer can see each other via webcam. C2C must be enabled by both parties. Most performers charge extra (or require a private show) to enable C2C. It creates a genuinely two-way interactive experience.
HD Cam
A room broadcasting in 720p or 1080p resolution. HD rooms are listed with an "HD" badge. Not all performers have HD equipment — SD rooms broadcast at lower resolutions. HD rooms tend to have higher viewer counts as video quality is a strong preference signal.
Whitelist / Geo-block
Performers can restrict or allow their room to specific countries. A "geo-blocked" room won't load for viewers in restricted regions. Whitelisted rooms are the opposite — only certain countries can access them. This is most common for performers following local regulations.
Countdown
Similar to a goal show, a countdown tracks tokens toward a specific action. The performer sets a token count; as viewers tip, the counter decreases until it hits zero and the action is performed. Countdowns are common for one-off actions rather than full shows.
Ticket Show
A semi-private group show where viewers buy a "ticket" (a set number of tokens) to access an exclusive stream. Ticket shows are typically more explicit than the public room — once enough viewers have bought in, the show starts. Non-ticket viewers see a blank/covered stream.
Multi-Viewer
A layout that displays multiple live cam rooms simultaneously in a grid. Available on some cam platforms. Useful for viewers who want to monitor several performers at once or watch multiple goal shows in parallel.
Why know these terms?
Live sex cam platforms use specific vocabulary that can be confusing at first. Knowing what a "goal show" is before you enter a room, or what "C2C" means before you click it, helps you get the most from every session. This glossary covers the core terms used on LiveBums and Chaturbate-powered platforms globally.
